Prof. Dr. Nuray Ekşi, who is graduated ranking first from Marmara University Faculty of Law in 1987, started to work as a research assistant in the department of international private law of the faculty of law, Marmara University in 1988. In the same year, she called to Istanbul Bar Association. She received her Ph.D. with a dissertation “Türk Mahkemelerinin Milletlerarası Yetkisi” in 1995; became Associate Professor with a dissertation “Yabancı Gemilerin İhtiyati Haczi” in 1999. She gained her qualification to be called to a professorship with a dissertation “Milletlerarası Deniz Ticareti Alanında ‘Incorporation’ Yoluyla Yapılan Tahkim Anlaşmaları”. At different times, She was awarded scholarships from NATO, The European Commission, European University Institute Academy of European Law, Jean Monnet, DAAD, and TÜBA to research and attend scientific meetings.
Prof. Dr. Nuray Ekşi attended numerous conferences, panels, and seminars both in Turkey and outside, which are organized by her with the support of various institutions or by others, as a speaker or moderator. She was a participant in different project such as Turkey and the European Community Report on the Relations between the Republic of Turkey and the European Community Arising from the Ankara Agreement and the Application for Membership, German Marshall Fund Project on Dual Nationality Berlin Meeting and German Marshall Fund Project on Dual Nationality Istanbul Meeting. Addition to these projects, she was a project coordinator and general coordinator within the scope of international projects, “International Commercial Arbitration-A Comparative Survey”, which is published by Istanbul Commerce Chamber (ITO Publication No.2004/45), and “Istanbul Conference on International Dispute Resolution: A Global Perspective”, published both in Turkish and English in 2008.
Prof. Dr. Nuray Ekşi is carrying out refereeing, editorial board membership, and advisory board in different academic journals. Addition to this, she is a founder and editor in chief in a academic journal “UTTDER-Uluslararası Ticaret ve Tahkim Hukuku Dergisi” since 2012.
In undergraduate and graduate programmes, Prof. Dr. Nuray Ekşi lectures the courses of “International Private Law I”, “International Private Law II”, “International Trade Law”, “International Arbitration Law”, Recognition and Enforcement of Foreign Judgments”, “Foreign Capital Investments”, and “EU International Private Law”. Between 1th and 21th July 2006, She also gave a lecture in International Private Law sessions in Hague Law Academy, which is located in the Netherland.
Prof. Dr. Nuray Ekşi wrote “Milletlerarası Özel Hukuk”, “Uluslararası Ticaret Hukuku”, “Milletlerarası Tahkim”, and a large number of other books related to foreign and refugee law. Her articles were published in different Turkish and Foreign Academic Law Journals.
